November 11, 2012 – On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, the Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA), will hold its fourth annual National Shine a Light on Lung Cancer Vigil. With at least 125 communities across the country participating and the Australian Lung Foundation coordinating the Vigil in that country, the Shine a Light on Lung Cancer Vigil is the largest national and international coordinated lung cancer awareness event. The Vigil is just one of numerous events taking place during this month’s National Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
The day of the Vigil, as well as throughout the month of November, volunteers and participants will come together to honor each other with their personal survival stories. Caregivers, healthcare providers and others will share local medical resource and support group information. The LCA, the world’s largest lung cancer advocacy group, intends the coordinated vigils to empower attendees by delivering hope, compassion and support and to unite participants in a national call to action to reduce lung cancer mortality by 50 percent by 2020.
