October 27, 2014 – Verastem, Inc. recently presented new information on its stem cell research at the 12th International Mesothelioma Interest Group Conference in Cape Town, South Africa on October 21st – 24th. The presenters focused on developments in the lead inhibitor VS-6063, known as defactinib, which is proving to be effective at targeting mesothelioma stem cells responsible for tumor growth. These stem cells are highly resistant to chemotherapy drugs and cause high incidents of tumor recurrence and metastases. VS-6063 is also part of COMMAND, which is a registration database study of mesothelioma patients around the world.
