Benjamin Shein, lead attorney of the Shein Law and founder of the Benjamin Shein Family Foundation was a Presenting Sponsor at this year’s Penn Presbyterian fundraiser benefitting Penn Medicine’s Mesothelioma & Pleural Program. The 12th Annual Benefit, dubbed “Mad Party”, inspired by the hit AMC television program, Mad Men, was held on March 15, 2013, at Vie in Philadelphia. The evening included a special tribute to “Hospital Hero” Jack Ende, MD, the first CPUP Chief of Medicine at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and the inaugural Schaeffer Professor of Medicine.
The entire staff of the Shein Law attended Mad Party and watched as Ben Shein presented a check in the amount of $50,000 to benefit the work of the researchers, physicians and clinicians at Penn Medicine’s Mesothelioma & Pleural Program. The Program, lead by co-directors, Joseph Friedberg, MD, and Daniel Sterman, MD, provides the most advanced treatments, surgical techniques and clinical trials available to mesothelioma patients, and is recognized as a global leader in mesothelioma research and treatment. Melissa Culligan, BSN, RN, Director of Clinical Services, and Karen D. Mudrick, Associate Director of Operations & Patient Navigator, were recently honored at the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation’s 10th annual Meso Foundation Symposium, “All in for a Cure”, also sponsored by the Benjamin Shein Family Foundation.
