North Carolina Company Speeds Up Clinical Trials for Mesothelioma Treatments

December 5, 2013 – The mesothelioma attorneys at Shein Law in Philadelphia are happy to report promising news for those suffering from mesothelioma, a rare and deadly cancer affecting the lining of the lungs and chest cavity that currently has no cure, and limited treatment options. A North Carolina company is hoping to change that, however, by expediting the clinical trial process.  By cutting through red tape and establishing clinical trials sooner, researchers can get closer to finding effective treatments for mesothelioma.

Clintrax Global, Inc. is a Raleigh, NC, company comprised of attorneys and corporate professionals who specialize in working with pharmaceutical companies to initiate clinical trials. The company is attempting to quickly establish testing sites by refining the contract negotiation process.  Clintrax has assembled a team of lawyers in 60 countries who are familiar with the native language and legal regulations of each.  Using in-country legal teams is a unique approach that they’re hoping will reduce negotiation time by up to 50%.

The Clintrax team has drafted an extensive catalogue of contract templates specific to each country.  They have also created a “cloud-based” network that will allow sponsors to keep apprised of their contract status as negotiations are going forward.  With increased transparency and decreased international confusion, negotiations can be settled quickly and reliably.  A fast negotiation process can get patients into a clinical trial more quickly, which could mean that an effective mesothelioma treatment is right around the corner.

The World Health Organization estimates that 43,000 people die each year from mesothelioma, including 3,000 in the U.S.  Mesothelioma is an extremely aggressive cancer, and those suffering from the disease have very few options to manage their symptoms.  With increased access to clinical trials, however, mesothelioma victims may see new treatments sooner, and researchers have more opportunities to find a cure for this devastating disease.

Clinical trials are managed through Clinicaltrials.gov, the national registry of information for both federally and privately-funded trials. Trial are conducted in all 50 States and 182 countries. There are more than 50 open studies for malignant mesothelioma worldwide, including trial sites in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
